Spray Diary: Second Spray

Spray Date: April 7, 2017

The second spraying was planned for April 4, one week after the initial spring effort, but work-related travel required me to wait until April 7.

I used used basically the same tank mix as the first session, with a couple of changes due to supply and/or measurement errors from the first tank mix. I also switched to Triazicide in place of Malathion:
  • Revus Top—22.5 ml to prevent Black Rot, Downy Mildew and Powdery Mildew.
  • Dithane M45—6 oz. dry weight, measured on a small scale. I believe this is chemically the same as Mancozeb, to prevent Phomopsis Cane and Leaf Spot, Black Rot and Downy Mildew.
  • Rally—90 ml to prevent Black Rot and Powdery Mildew. the Rally I used these first two times (actually Eagle 20EW) is half the strength of Rally. Both are myclobutanil.
  • Agrifos—Added 240 ml to the tank mix for Downy Mildew. This is the correct amount for a 15 gallon solution. I had only 120 ml in the first tank. The Revus Top and Dithane M45 are preventive; the Agrifos treats an active outbreak. The is precautionary in case of a winter holdover.
  • Spectricide Triazicide—I added 450 ml to the tank mix. The two treatments have kept the little worms off the grapevines and the fruit trees that got sprayed with the excess tank mix.
The other good news is that the drip system is fully functional now, removing my biggest worry that kept me constantly glued to the weather forecasts.

Next planned spray date is April 21.
