Spray Date: April 20, 2017
The third spray took place on Thursday, April 20. It was one day earlier than planned because of a near-certain forecast of heavy rainfall over the weekend, but the weather was perfect with no breeze and mild temperatures. I wanted to get the spray on well ahead of what was expected to be three days of heavy rain.
The tank mix was slightly modified from the previous two sprays, adding Elevate to prevent botrytis.

- Revus Top—22.5 ml to prevent Black Rot, Downy Mildew and Powdery Mildew.
- Dithane M45—6 oz. dry weight, measured on a small scale. I believe this is chemically the same as Mancozeb, to prevent Phomopsis Cane and Leaf Spot, Black Rot and Downy Mildew.
- Rally—90 ml to prevent Black Rot and Powdery Mildew. the Rally I used these first three times (actually Eagle 20EW) is half the strength of Rally. Both are myclobutanil. I'm now out of the Eagle 20EW and will begin using actual Rally in the future.
- Agrifos—Added 240 ml to the tank mix for Downy Mildew. This is the correct amount for a 15 gallon solution.
- Elevate—Added 2 oz. of Elevate 30 WDG. The mixing instruction call for 1 lb. per acre. There is no hand spray mixing instructions on the label. I calculate that I have about 10,000 sq. ft. of vineyard, which is a little less than 1/4 of an acre. By all accounts, I probably should be using 4 oz. of Elevate rather than 2 oz. I am looking into this.
- Spectricide Triazicide—I added 450 ml to the tank mix.
I had a little accident with this spray, when I realized a little late that I failed to top up the tank to the full 15 gallons of water. I always put 10 to 12 gallons of water in the tank, run the pump to ensure I don't have a pump problem, then add the chemicals to the water. After a thorough stirring with a very long handled spoon, I top up with water to the full 15 gallons of mix.
This time, however, I sprayed two rows before I realized I failed to top up. After correcting for my mistake, I managed to get the spraying completed, spraying both sides of each row. There is no sign the concentrated spray damaged the vines, nor is there any sign the spray was too diluted to be effective. I will be more careful in the future.
Next planned spray date is May 5.
