There has been almost no rain so far this month. I intended to seed the spaces between the rows with Kentucky 31 tall fescue, but backed off because I never could find a day when there was rain in the extended forecast. Turns out it was a smart decision to hold off. We have had virtually no rain for the month of May. The best I can tell, we are about three inches behind.
I have been reduced to weekly watering by hand while Texas and Oklahoma are experiencing catastrophic flooding. I feel for my family and friends on both sides of the Red River.
Thank goodness I located the vineyard close to a hose bib. I seemed to have found the proper amount to water, as all but the Norton are showing no signs of stress and continue to make good progress.
The grass between the rows will have to wait until September.
