Norton Vines and Grow Tubes

As noted in an earlier post, the Norton vines have been disappointing. It was a Norton vine—the very first vine I planted—that appears to have died. I've left the dead guy alone just to see what happens. A white paper on cultivating Norton vines recommends against grow tubes unless the vines are planted in sandy soil, which led me to remove all the grow tubes on June 10. The vinifera and hybrids are doing great in the grow tubes.

It is too early to tell, but several vines are showing signs of improvement. It may be too late, however, for several others.
